本課程主要教授文物保護的理念、原則、現況、困難和技術；文物的價值；及以文物作為研究香港歷史的切入點。課程將透過不同文物介紹香港六千年的歷史發展脈絡：本地的考古文物、歷史環境及建築、口頭及非物質文化遺產(源流、發展和歷史意義)、香港城市規劃與文物保護、香港文物保護的政策及工作(回顧、現況與前瞻)、本地文化政策、國內及其他主要國家的文物保護情況，和國際之間在文物保護方面的努力和成果。本課程由香港資深的文物保護專家擔任主講，除授課外，還包括本地田野考察兩次(必須出席)，適合有志於從事文物保護工作及對本地文物、文化及歷史有興趣的學生修讀。

1. 學生必需出席所有課堂。
2. 導修將會於田野進行兩次，將於2016年9月25日及11月6日(均為星期日)舉行，學生必須出席。9月25日的地點為大澳；11月6日為九龍城。
3. 每次田野考察及導修後，學生需於兩星期或指定日期內撰寫一份約一千五百字至二千字的報告(每組計算)，並投進助教信箱內。[不接受電郵遞交]
4. 學生須在2016年12月6日(星期二)晚上八時前提交期末報告一份，並投進助教信箱內。逾期提交而未獲事先批准的同學，總成績將會降低半等級，即A級降至A-級，B+級降至B級，如此類推。
5. 期末報告可以個人或小組形式撰寫，小組以二人為限。若以個人撰寫期末報告，字數需達五千字或以上；二人撰寫的報告，字數需按比例增加。報告以中、英文撰寫均可，但必須嚴格遵守有關撰寫學術論文的格式及規例。[不接受電郵遞交]

評分標準

導修課以實地考察的形式進行，修讀本科的學員必須出席,。考察目的是讓學員親身體驗香港的有形和無形文物，從而思考文物的保護及未來發展等。

香港的一些古物和古蹟 (Some Antiquities and Monuments in Hong Kong)

Attention is drawn to University policy and regulations on honesty in academic work, and to the disciplinary guidelines and procedures applicable to breaches of such policy and regulations. Details may be found at here.

With each assignment, students will be required to submit a signed declaration that they are aware of these policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures.

• In the case of group projects, all members of the group should be asked to sign the declaration, each of whom is responsible and liable to disciplinary actions, irrespective of whether he/she has signed the declaration and whether he/she has contributed, directly or indirectly, to the problematic
• For assignments in the form of a computer-generated document that is principally text-based and submitted via VeriGuide, the statement, in the form of a receipt, will be issued by the system upon students’ uploading of the soft copy of the assignment. 
• Students are fully aware that their work may be investigated by AI content detection software to determine originality.
• Students are fully aware of the AI approach(es) adopted in the course. In the case where some AI tools are allowed, students have made proper acknowledgment and citations as instructed by the course teacher.

Assignments without the properly signed declaration will not be graded by teachers.

Only the final version of the assignment should be submitted via VeriGuide.

The submission of a piece of work, or a part of a piece of work, for more than one purpose (e.g. to satisfy the requirements in two different courses) without declaration to this effect shall be regarded as having committed undeclared multiple submissions. It is common and acceptable to reuse a turn of phrase or a sentence or two from one’s own work; but wholesale reuse is problematic. In any case, agreement from the course teacher(s) concerned should be obtained prior to the submission of the piece of work.

The copyright of the teaching materials, including lecture notes, assignments and examination questions etc., produced by staff members/ teachers of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) belongs to CUHK. Students may download the teaching materials produced by the staff members/ teachers from the Learning Management Systems, e.g. Blackboard adopted by CUHK for their own educational use, but shall not distribute/ share/ copy the materials to a third-party without seeking prior permission from the staff members/ teachers concerned.
