M.Phil. Programme
The M.Phil. in History is an innovative and intensive course that provides a thorough training in historical methods. It offers a range of specialist options that draw on the latest research, and includes a sustained period devoted to archival research and writing.

Tuition Fee & Financial Assistance
Tuition Fee
2025-2026: HK$44,500 per annum
2026-2027: HK$47,000 per annum
2027-2028: HK$49,500 per annum
This fee applies to both full-time and part-time research postgraduate students.
Financial Assistance
Postgraduate Studentships
Postgraduate Studentship (PGS) is a form of financial assistance provided to full-time postgraduate students registered in research degree programmes. Holders of such studentship are not employees of the University.
The award of a PGS will be made known to students at the same time as they receive their admission offers, students need not make a separate application for obtaining the award. The monthly stipend for Postgraduate Studentship is HK$19,100 for 2025-26. Students receiving PGS awards are expected to assist in the teaching and research work of the Department. Their duties will be assigned by the Department Chairman.
Tuition Waiver for Local Research Postgraduate Students
Starting from the 2018/19 academic year, the Government has provided a tuition waiver for all local full-time students enrolled in the UGC-funded Research Postgraduate (RPg) programmes. Details of the Scheme are available at www.ugc.edu.hk/eng/rgc/funding_opport/tws.html.

The Department has a Computer Laboratory with adequate Computer facilities (several computers, networked printers and scanners) for the academic use of the students.
