Remarks:

  1. The “Attained” level in Citizenship and Social Development (CS) will not be considered in the calculation of admission scores.
  2. For Liberal Studies (LS) subject taken in 2023 or before, a Level 2 or above will be considered as “Attained” in Citizenship and Social Development. The LS level will not be considered in the calculation of admission scores.

FAQ

Q1. Is it important to have HIS as my JUPAS Band A choice?

Ans:     All students admitted in the History are from Band A in 2023.

 

Q2. Is there any advantage to be gained from taking Chinese History or/and World History course(s) in HKDSE?

Ans:     No. All subjects are treated on an equal basis in the admission exercise.

 

Q3. Do the institutions know my actual priority of programme choices in the admission exercise?

Ans:     No

 

Q4. Do I have to attend any interview in applying for the History Department?

Ans:     Interview is normally not required for JUPAS applicants.

 

Q5. Will you consider my grades obtained in the GCE, LCC, IB, SAT, or other Non-JUPAS results?

Ans:     Students holding qualifications other than Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) can apply for admission through the Non-JUPAS scheme.

 

Q6. What kind of student is suitable to study history?

Ans:     Students with following attributes are found to be a good history students and having good performance:

  • good analytical skill
  • good command of languages (Chinese and English)
  • global perspective and sensitive to contemporary issues
  • creative and willing to face challenge
  • understanding that study is more than memorizing
