Congratulations to the Graduates of the 2023-24 M.A. Programme in Comparative and Public History!

The group photo-taking session for the M.A. Programme in Comparative and Public History was held at the Lady Shaw Building Rooftop Garden on 15 November 2024, with the presence of faculty members and graduates. Prof. PUK Wing Kin, the Division Head, and Prof. HE Xi, the M.A. Programme Director, were invited to present the Scholarship awards to Mr. JIANG Yuheng, Mr. YANG Siyuan and Mr. YEUNG Ka Lok as an encouragement for their pursuit of academic excellence.

 


 

Academic Activities

Recapping the “History Day 2024” Held on 9 November 2024

The Department held the “History Day 2024” on 9 November 2024. This annual event serves as a platform for the Department to share the teaching and learning of history with the secondary school teachers and students.

Dr. WOO Tsz Yan Jessie and Dr. FOK Yeung Yeung delivered lectures on the theme “Travelers in History: From the Perspective of Others”. These interesting and well-prepared lectures explored the fun and life experience of studying history. In addition, two undergraduate students shared their wonderful campus life and the pleasure of participating in the summer internship.

The event was well received and drew over 200 participants.

 


 

Recapping the “Further Study Sharing Session 2024-25” Held on 15 November 2024

Further Study Sharing Session of the M.A. Programme in Comparative and Public History was successfully held on 15 November 2024. Prof. HE Xi, Programme Director, illustrated the key points on applying the M.Phil. Programme of the Department of History to around 20 current M.A. Programme students. Two M.Phil. students of our Department were also invited to share their application experiences in the sharing session.

 


 

Recapping the New Book Talk “Public Interest and State Legitimation: Early Modern England, Japan, and China” on 15 November 2024

The New Book Talk “Public Interest and State Legitimation: Early Modern England, Japan, and China” was held on 15 November 2024.

Prof. HE Wenkai examined the connections between state capacity, state legitimation, and the expansion of political participation in early modern England, Tokugawa Japan, and Qing China through the context of global history and comparative history. Fifty-five participants joined the talk.
