1st Annual Graduate Student International Colloquium

The Department of History at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is pleased to announce its 1st Annual Graduate Student International Colloquium. Themed “Trends, Issues, and Problems”, the event is organized by graduate students for graduate students.

Providing a new platform for MA, MPhil, PhD, and recently graduated researchers to share their innovative research ideas and findings, the event also provides opportunity to engage in critical discussions regarding the current state of Southeast Asian and Chinese historical studies.

The Colloquium is composed of two streams – (1) Chinese Historical Scholarship and (2) Southeast Asian Historical Scholarship. Panels shall comprise of short presentations reflecting each young scholar’s research findings/their contribution to their respective field. Presentations will be followed by discussions facilitated by a panel chair. All panels will therefore be informative and interactive with audience Q and As invited.

The Organizing Committees welcome presentation proposals that address one or more of the following topics.

Call for Abstract (CLOSED)
To participate in the event, you are warmly welcomed to submit a 100 to 150-word abstract in English at https://easychair.org/conferences?conf=agsic1seasia before the deadline of March 23, 2025. All proposed abstracts will be subject to blind peer review.

Note: (1) The theme of this colloquium focuses on reflections and contributions to the current situation of Chinese historical studies. Abstracts on general historical research will not be accepted.
           (2) This call for abstract does not impose restrictions on research period and area.

Call for Abstract
To participate in the event, please submit a 100 to 150-word abstract in Chinese or English via https://cloud.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/mycuform/view.php?id=3314481 by 16 May 2025.  All proposed abstracts will be subject to blind peer review and applicants will be notified of the results in May 2025.

Authors of accepted abstracts should attend the colloquium and present in person. Mainland and overseas students are welcomed to participate the colloquium. However, they have to make their own arrangement for transportation, accommodation and visa (if applicable) at their own cost.
