Study Scheme

(1) Coursework Requirements

Students are required to complete a minimum of 24 units of courses for graduation.

(a) Required Courses: 6 Units
  1. HIST5011
  2. At least 3 units must be chosen from
    1. "Special Topics in Public History" or
    2. "Special Topics in Comparative History"
 
(b) Elective Courses: 18 Units
Any 18 units of courses to be chosen from the following:
  1. Seminar courses:
    HIST6015, HIST6016, HIST6017
  2. HIST5000-level courses
  3. HIST4000-level courses
    1. Subject to prior approval by the Programme Director and consent of the course instructors, students are allowed to choose up to 3 units of HIST4000-level courses in the undergraduate curriculum, and these will count towards minimum course units for graduation if they achieve a course grade of B- or above.
 
Total: 24 Units

(2) Other Requirements

(a) Students must fulfill the Term Assessment Requirement. A student who obtains a cumulative grade point average (GPA) below 2.0 in the preceding term or receives a failure grade in thesis monitoring course (for Research Postgraduate Programmes) will be put on academic probation. (b) Students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0  

Notes:

  1. If a student completes 24 units of courses (3 units per course) and intends to study any additional courses, an additional course fee is applied. In 2019-20, the additional fee is HK$13,749 per course.
