Programme
Every summer, the Department of History organizes an internship programme (non-remunerated) for History major, minor and research postgraduate students. The objective of the programme is to provide students with real life working experience in workplace and to apply the knowledge they have gained in an academic setting. The Programme will take place in the summer from June to August and last for around 4-8 weeks (specific host institutions may have special arrangements). Students will gain experience in problem-solving in a "real-world context", in teamwork, in an independent work, in research as well as in administrative skills.
  1. CUHK History Major and Minor students
  2. CUHK History Full-Time Research Postgraduate students
  3. CUHK MACPH Full-time (Local and Non-local) students

(1) Internship Briefing Workshop

  1. To be held on 1 March 2017 (Wednesday) from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at KHB 101
  2. Introduction of the internship programme

(2) Pre-Internship Orientation Workshop

  1. To be held on 17 May 2017 (Wednesday) from 2:30PM to 3:30PM at KHB 101
  2. Introduction on preparation for work and means of maximizing the learning outcomes
  3. Basic communication skills in the work place

(3) Internship at the workplace (around 4-8 weeks)

  1. From June to August
  2. Students will be assigned to different companies for internship
  3. Department will liaise with placement organizations on performance of interns
  4. Department will contact interns regularly to collect feedbacks about their problems encountered in the work place.

(4) Internship Programme Review Workshop

  1. To be held on 1 September 2017 (Friday) from 2:30pm to 4:30pm at KHB 101
  2. Sharing of the working experience during the internship period
  3. Collecting feedbacks from interns in order to have a continuous improvement of the Programme

(5) Upon Completion of the Internship Programme

  1. Students are required to submit a reflection report, together with an internship weekly diary, to the department within 14 days upon the completion of the internship
  2. At the end of the programme, the "Internship Evaluation Form" will be sent to the interns’ supervisors to evaluate the performance of interns
  3. Interns may apply for the Summer Internship Certificate, provided that they have fulfilled the following criteria:
    a. An attendance rate at the work place is reached at least 80%;
    b. An overall performance is evaluated by the respective supervisor of the host institutions as Good or Excellent.
