Public Archaeology: Social, economical and cultural values of archaeological activity 

2015-16 (Term 1)

Course Lecturer : CHAU Hing-wah

Chau Hing-wah is currently the Curator (Intangible Cultural Heritage) of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office.  He acquired his BA at the University of Hong Kong in 1983, and his MA in field archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology, University College London in 1988.  Since he joined the Antiquities and Monuments Office as an Assistant Curator II in 1985, he has been working in the field of archaeology for about two decades.  He has taken charge of over 150 archeological field projects in Hong Kong including the Second Territory-wide Archaeological Survey of Hong Kong from 1996 to 1998, and the large-scale rescue excavation at Tung Wan Tsai on Ma Wan which was awarded one of the ten most significant archaeological discoveries in China in 1997.
